Miriam

I’ve spent most of my life believing in God, but I’ve also spent a lot of time feeling like I wasn’t doing enough to be a good person.

Not praying enough. Not helping enough. Not living up to what I thought I should be.

Lately I’ve been changing the way I think about my faith.

Yesterday, I helped an older woman carry her groceries to her car. We talked for maybe five minutes, mostly about the weather and how expensive everything has gotten.

When she smiled and thanked me, I had this strange feeling that the moment mattered more than either of us knew.

Maybe being connected to something divine isn’t always about having an extraordinary spiritual experience. Maybe sometimes it’s just noticing another human being and choosing to care.

That’s what I’m taking from this journey.
