I volunteer at an animal rescue. There is one older dog there who is afraid of nearly everybody.
For weeks, I sat outside his kennel and read books. I didn’t try to touch him or make him come to me.
One afternoon, he walked over and rested his head against my knee.
That little moment made my whole month.
I think there’s a lot we can learn about connection from animals. Trust takes time, and being present matters.
