Six months ago, I moved to a new city where I didn’t know anybody.

For a while, I felt like I was just passing through life without really belonging anywhere.

Then I started going to a small community garden.

At first, I mostly kept to myself. Eventually, people started talking to me, asking what I was growing, offering advice.

Now I have people who wave when I arrive, ask how I’m doing, and notice when I haven’t been there in a while.

I thought I needed some major life-changing event to start feeling connected again.

Turns out I needed a patch of dirt and a few friendly neighbors.
