My son has autism, and sometimes connecting with people looks a little different in our family.
He doesn’t always want to have conversations, but he loves watching birds.
We built a bird feeder together last spring.
Now we sit by the window and watch the visitors come and go.
Some days he names every bird. Other days we don’t say anything at all.
I’ve come to appreciate that connection doesn’t always require conversation. Sometimes sharing a moment is more than enough.
