For anyone who’s never watched the desert come alive after rain, you’re missing something special.
Most of the year, the landscape looks dry and almost empty. Then a storm comes through, and suddenly there’s color, movement, and life everywhere.
I’ve lived in Arizona for years, but it still amazes me.
Last weekend, I took my grandson out after a rainstorm. He was pointing at every little insect and plant like he’d discovered a new planet.
For once, I wasn’t explaining everything to him. I was just enjoying seeing the world through his eyes.
The idea of life being interconnected makes sense to me when I see how much depends on a little rainfall.
I hope he grows up remembering those walks.
