I’m 78, and I reckon I’ve seen enough of life to know that most of us spend too much time worrying about things that don’t matter.
I spent forty-three years working, raising children, fixing things around the house, and trying to make a decent living.
I don’t regret that.
But when I look back, I don’t remember most of the days I spent at work.
I remember teaching my son to ride a bicycle. I remember my wife laughing so hard at something ridiculous that she couldn’t finish her sentence. I remember sitting beside my mother when she was getting old and listening to her tell the same stories I’d already heard a hundred times.
That’s what stayed with me.
So when I read about the invisible ties that connect us, I don’t think about anything complicated.
I think about people.
If you’re young and reading this, take time for the people you love. The years don’t move nearly as slowly as you think.
